new beginnings

So after much consideration, I have decided to start a blog to keep everyone updated on everything going on with me in Ohio. For those of you who may not know already, I'll be heading out to Columbus, Ohio for grad school and work at Ohio State University in about 1.5 weeks. I know this may surprise many of you who have known me for a long time. To be honest, I never really expected to move that far away from home, let alone the Midwest, but Ohio State has a great Sport Management program and an awesome recreation department, so I really couldn't turn down such a great opportunity.

I am leaving So Cal August 8th. My parents and I are going to be taking a 9 day road trip across country, making stops in Las Vegas, Yellowstone National Park, Mt. Rushmore, and Chicago. I am definitely excited to see all of these places, but I'm not sure how I'm going to handle 9 full days and countless hours on the road in the middle of nowhere with my parents. Let's just hope for the best.

Given that I have lived in Southern California all my life, I'm not sure how I am going to survive my first REAL winter. I am definitely preparing/expecting for the worst. Expect a very long entry (filled with plenty of bitching and moaning) when the first snowstorm hits. :)

Everyone has been asking me if I am excited about moving out to Ohio. I'm definitely excited about going out there. It is going to be a big change, but I know that I am going to experience a lot, learn a lot, and meet a lot of new people. I know that it won't always be easy and I'm sure I'll be homesick at times, but I think it's important to live away from home for a couple of years, just to see what else is out there. If it doesn't turn out to be what you wanted, you can always go back home.

Four years of college, graduation, and the first half of summer passed by so fast. Right now I'm just trying to spend as much time with friends and family before we all move on to bigger and better things. We all have a lot of great opportunities and difficult choices ahead of us and I am looking forward to hearing what everyone is up to, so please keep in touch and maybe start a blog too so that I can follow!!!

I will be splitting my time between Westwood and Hacienda Heights for the next week and a half, so give me a shout if you want to hang out or catch up on old times.
